Edith Nickell collection, 1915-1920.

The collection consists of a photograph album containing 82 (chiefly 4 x 6 cm., b&w) photographs belonging to Edith Nickell. The pictures were taken during a visit through southcentral and southeast Alaska in the early 1900's. The photographs include images of the Alaska Railroad, glaciers, steamships, dogs, and other miscellaneous subjects. Locations photographed include Anchorage, Cordova, Seward, Valdez, Fort Liscum, Juneau, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Skagway, and Wrangell. The collection includes several photographs taken by photographer Maude Dempsey of Anchorage.
